Ebeul Booster

Our first signature pedal was inspired by the famous Rangemaster Treble Booster. Designed for the Lorient-based guitarist Florian Ebel of the Ebel Elektrik trio, it was based on an OC44 NOS transistor. It is around this vintage component that we recreated the original circuit. Designed to work with theKelt V-Max amp, the Ebeul Booster allows to push the amp's tubes to a powerful saturation level, in the tradition of Rory Gallagher and Brian May.
Our version offers you not one, but two Treble Booster circuits. The first one is the vintage germanium circuit recreated for Florian Ebel. It brings an inimitable crunch while remaining very clean thanks to the guitar's volume pot. It is ideal for old school blues rock. The second circuit is based on the Treble Booster of Brian May of Queen used during the Live Aid of 1985. It brings a bigger level of saturation in a hard rock register. In a Vox amp pushed to the limit, we are undeniably close to the sound of Brian May. Our last improvement is a switchable output buffer. If your pedal is far away from your amp by long cables, the buffer will allow you to drive your signal without altering it and deteriorating your saturation.
WARNING: A Treble Booster is not an overdrive. It must be coupled to an amp already in crunch/saturated sound to be efficient. If your amp is in clean sound, the Ebeul Booster must be coupled to an overdrive pedal. It must be connected at the beginning of the chain.
The Ebeul Booster is a true-bypass or buffered pedal that works with a 9vDC power supply (negative center) for a 5mA consumption. It is handmade by us in our workshop in Nantes. Feel free to contact us through the contact form for any question.
