"MORE WOMEN ON STAGE!" This slogan, written with a gaffer on Lola Frichet's Fender Mustang, is not insignificant. "MORE WOMEN ON STAGE!"
This slogan, written with gaffer on Lola Frichet's Fender Mustang, is not insignificant. In an era where systemic violence towards the most fragile is less and less accepted on the one hand, but more and more latent on the other hand. Since economic crises are never times when human rights progress, there is something salutary in the fact of imagining that the profession or activity of musician is not an activity reserved for men, nor even that the Y chromosome has any influence on the capacity of a human being to play music better. The fact that music pays less and less also slowly but surely eliminates situations where women musicians, as a minority, have to negotiate with powerful decision makers. Nevertheless, they are still in the minority, on stage, in the studio, in teaching or backstage, in the technical team. The thing is long heard in the classical circles, but, as soon as one arrives in the current musics, the woman musician is an exception, that one has difficulty not to sexualize. Social networks having this annoying tendency to put forward pretty faces and big necklines (the figures are sometimes edifying), we think that the fight is far from being won. However, it would be enough to erase from our mind the desire to put forward a woman because she is a woman and only talk about her music and her gear. If women were more often in the spotlight, we would also stop marveling at the slightest female presence in a rock band. We need more Gail Ann Dorsey, Tal Wilkenfeld, Lola Frichet, Charlotte Poiget (Aqme), Carole King or Nik West who we put on the cover of this issue, not because she is a woman, but simply because she grooves wickedly well.
Let's focus on the music, since it is this passion that brings us together, and enjoy the beautiful unisex grooves offered by our teachers. In the same way, the gear dissected by our expert hands in the test section can be worn with a pair of jeans as well as with a sequined miniskirt...
