In 2022, information travels with such speed that mystery and fantasy no longer allow legends to be forged, nor the public to dream. There was a time when the exploits and antics of the music gods, their exciting and tumultuous lives, were distilled down to us by the pens of writers and rock critics. Fans drank their prose like milk and waited with bated breath for the rest of their writings. Of course, if Google and social networks had existed in 1971, it would have taken only a few clicks to get up to speed on the day-to-day life of John Paul Jones or John Entwistle, which would probably have demystified everything. Rock has not come out of this major change in information processing completely unscathed, but it too has entered a new era. Only a few holdouts seem determined to retain what little aura they have left, like Slipknot, a masked metal gang from Iowa whose skillfully orchestrated appearances continue to inspire as much fear as admiration. Bassist Magazine had the privilege of speaking with Alessandro "Vman" Venturella, bassist for almost 10 years, who agreed to talk exclusively about the background of his (unusual) integration into one of the greatest institutions of modern metal. We are very happy to give him our front page and to spend the hundredth with him and the other very eclectic guests of this issue: Michel Alibo (Sixun), Michael League (Snarky Puppy), Peter Mulders (Brutus), but also Shob and Dominic John Davis (Jack White).
As for the gear, we invite you to enjoy Christmas shopping with our selection of products under 600 euros to treat yourself without having to mortgage your apartment (not forgetting that a magazine subscription is always a pleasure...). As for the pedagogical section, you will find all the tips you need to boost your technique and vocabulary thanks to the good advice of our kind teachers.
Happy reading and happy holidays to all!
