Considered by many of his peers to be the most illustrious drummer of all time, Dave Weckl has stepped aside from the drumming Olympics and its intrepid technicians to focus on his online school. Nevertheless, his futuristic and breathtaking rhythmic architectures, which go far beyond the jazz/fusion framework, continue to have an undeniable impact on the new generations of drummers. As Batterie Magazine's mission is to bring to the pinnacle the drummers who made the schmilblick move forward, we had to dedicate a file worthy of this name to this great man of the groove, always animated by this perpetual quest of requirement and perfectionism...

Considered by many of his peers to be the most illustrious drummer in any category, Dave Weckl has stepped aside from the drumming Olympics and its intrepid technicians to focus on his online school. Nevertheless, his futuristic and breathtaking rhythmic architectures, which go far beyond the jazz/fusion framework, continue to have an undeniable impact on the new generations of drummers. Since Batterie Magazine's mission is to bring to the pinnacle the drummers who have made the schmilblick move forward, we had to dedicate a file worthy of the name to this great man of groove, always animated by this perpetual quest of requirement and perfectionism. In a different register, but not so far away, we were invited (exclusively!) by Tomas Haake to enter the recording studio of Meshuggah, Ben Thatcher spoke about the new Royal Blood, and Edward Perraud turned our brains upside down... This issue 180 should also satisfy the amateurs of beautiful equipment (Yamaha, ASBA, Mystic Cymbals, Repercussion...) and pedago (Cédric and Hervé's lessons, our scores of Vulfpeck, Tower of Power, Chad Smith & co.).
You will also find our usual columns: the Groove Shop, the Tribute (dedicated this month to Cozy Powell), without forgetting the (already cult) mood bill of Morgan Berthet...
