The Shrapnel years, with this galaxy of super guitarists revealed by the American producer Mike Varney, from Vinnie Moore to Yngwie Malmsteen, from Paul Gilbert to Blues Saraceno, from Shawn Lane to Frank Gambale, without forgetting Richie Kotzen, Marty Friedman, Tony MacAlpine, Jason Backer or Michael Lee Firkins and all the others... Those who forged their guitar weapons between 1982 and 1995 have been indelibly marked by these athletes of the neck and these marvelous albums, mostly instrumental, but also by all the compilations released during this epic and slightly crazy period for the guitar, where everything went sometimes too far and too fast, but where the passion for the instrument burned brightly. Times have changed, music has changed, and let's face it, if the guitar remains omnipresent in today's productions, it has been greatly downgraded, playing on equal footing with the other instruments. However, its "heroic" facet has not completely disappeared, as a new generation of underground guitarists on social networks can testify, and the technical level has never been so high. So the guitar had to be given a place of choice in a creative context, and this is precisely the mission of the United Guitars collective, which will release its third double album, United Guitars, Vol. 3, on December 10, entirely dedicated to "guitar-oriented" instrumental music, that of yesterday and today, with a mix of styles, generations and pedigrees that are absolutely out of the ordinary: 34 guitarists, 20 original compositions recorded in the studio, for a total of nearly 110 minutes. A declaration of love to the electric guitar that well deserved the front page of Guitar Xtreme Magazine.
