Is the blues, cornerstone of Western music, the only prerogative of the country of its origin, the USA, or even by extension of England, who gave the genre a second life and a teenage energy in the 1960s? Can you be credible and authentic playing the blues when you were born in France? Certainly, yes. Fred Chapellier continues to knead his strings and knead the musical material with the dexterity of the masters (the three Kings, Roy Buchanan, Peter Green), tinting his speech with blue by seeking out those "in between notes" inherited in the past from sound (and blood) of Africa and which encapsulate the DNA of this wide culture.
