Is the blues, cornerstone of Western music, the only prerogative of the country of its origin, the USA, or even by extension of England, who gave the genre a second life and a teenage energy in the 1960s? Can you be credible and authentic playing the blues when you were born in France? Certainly, yes. Fred Chapellier continues to knead his strings and knead the musical material with the dexterity of the masters (the three Kings, Roy Buchanan, Peter Green), tinting his speech with blue by seeking out those "in between notes" inherited in the past from sound (and blood) of Africa and which encapsulate the DNA of this wide culture.

This science of the blues is today a common good for all peoples, a universal musical code that exorcises pain and soothes the human soul. Like all great bluesmen, Fred is a "healer", a hardworking craftsman devoted to the cause, who never hesitates to work hard to refine his art for which he has sacrificed everything, but who has given him everything back, in order to always come as close as possible to the truth, to HIS truth. Because as Oscar Wilde said: “Be yourself, everyone else is taken". And it is perhaps this lesson that Fred delivers to us with his new album,Straight to the Point, which has already found its place among the nuggets of the genre. We are proud to feature this unique and fascinating artist. We wish you a good reading! The office!
