We are currently living a very interesting period for the guitar. Between a dominant trend clearly oriented towards neo-vintage, a radical modernism and a return to the 1980's, some seem to be camping in front of their chapels. But why not fully embrace these different philosophies and celebrate the incredible richness of our brand new instrument, born just over 70 years ago? Whether it's guitars, amps, effects or accessories, the iconic tools once created by the great classical brands continue to inspire small and medium-sized manufacturers to redouble their creativity to satisfy a clientele eager for old-fashioned sensations (nostalgia for a world that is slipping away, others are fully embracing our time with resolutely "up to date" instruments, like the superb Veil from Meta Guitars tested in this issue, which is unlike any other. Obviously, it is the music that defines these axes and, between Billy Gibbons and Joe Bonamassa who pose as guardians of the temple carrying the standard of the 60's and 70's, Mike Sullivan of Russian Circles, the ass between two chairs, who creates his own " alternative " sound patte by recycling and innovating, Tobias Forge, leader of Ghost, who resurrects with brio the essence of the 80's hard, or the duo Jack Gardiner / Owane, who expresses himself at the top of this new prog / fusion scene.... there's a lot to grind. We wish you an excellent reading!
