Fabrication Product made in France
If France has always been a land of guitars and especially of luthiers, the explosion of manufacturers we are witnessing is unprecedented. Whether it's guitars, amps, effects or accessories, we have never had to deal with so much diversity and choice. Obviously pushed by the "boutique" wave, many pedal and amp manufacturers have launched themselves, sometimes without any prior knowledge, but most of the time with a solid engineering or electronics background. For the guitar, it is still balanced between the former ITEMM, school of lutherie of Le Mans, those who followed an old-fashioned training or those who go there head on. We could have chosen to talk only about the established makers, those we know well and who have nothing left to prove. It is true that between those who have a solid national reputation and those who play in the big league on a global scale, we could have already filled two issues like this one and there would still have been no room. We have finally decided to work on the basis of our heart's desire, to put forward manufacturers who have just started their activity, but who seem to us to be promising, or to put the spotlight on initiatives aiming at developing the distribution of these products. This issue is also an opportunity to see that most of the manufacturing can be done locally and to find alternatives to most of what the United States can offer or that Asia can copy. The use of non-exotic woods is growing, because of the ecological emergency and the need to valorize trees, which would otherwise end up in the shredder to make pellets for domestic stoves. Of course, it forces you to go and meet these craftsmen, to try the instruments, the amps, the pedals, to get out of your certainties, but what a breath of fresh air, don't you think? We wish you a very good reading of this first special edition of Guitar Xtreme and beautiful discoveries through these pages. The Editor
