Lava Booster MK2 | Discrete Class A Amplifier

The Lava Booster is a high-quality Class A amplifier that combines clean signal amplification with remarkable versatility, making it a very valuable and useful tool. Its core function is a transparent MOSFET-based boost that takes your signal from unity gain up to a powerful output, letting it function as a clean boost, a preamp, a buffer or even a loud overdrive. This range allows to use the Lava Booster for solo boosts, pushing amplifiers into natural overdrive, or driving other pedals for a broader tonal palette.

MOSFET Technology:
As we write before, in Lava Booster we use MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) technology, which brings good benefits to sound amplification and enhancement. MOSFET and JFET transistors are widely used in guitar pedals due to their tube-like tonal qualities. In the Lava Booster, MOSFET amplification can provides clean, transparent signal boosting without adding unwanted noise or distortion. A key advantage of MOSFET and JFET technology is also its ability to create soft and musical clipping, closely resembling the natural saturation of tube amplifiers. This allows the pedal to deliver a warm and rich tone at higher gain levels, preserving harmonic richness and producing a loud, dynamic and natural overdrive.

High input Z and low output Z:
In addition, with its high input impedance and low output impedance, the Lava Booster minimizes signal loss across long cables and reduces the impact of other pedals in the chain, thus pedal acts as a buffer. This is particularly useful when the pedal is placed at the beginning of the signal chain, keeping the tone "alive" and maintaining high-frequency detail.

Gain range:
So, at the low gain, Lava acts as a buffer, converting high-impedance signals to low impedance, minimizing signal loss across long chains. In a mid to mid-end gain, it enhances volume without distortion, ideal for solos. Pushed to higher gain levels, the pedal can overdrive a tube amp for a warm, amp-specific overdrive tone or even add a compressed fuzz-like texture in its upper gain ranges.

MK2 update:
The MKII version introduces refinements like enhanced power filtering and a soft-touch bypass switch, which operates in both classic and momentary modes for dynamic live performance options.

Each Lava Booster is housed in a compact, hand-painted enclosure, designed to take up minimal space on your pedalboard while standing out visually. Guitarists using both electric and bass guitars have found the pedal equally effective, making it a versatile addition to any setup.

NOTE 1: Photos are for example. The pedal you purchased may have a slightly different design or other changes.
