Knife OD&Fuzz | Natural Overdrive and Vintage Fuzz Tone
Réf. 7Made by : Lateral Phonics
The Knife OD&Fuzz is a vintage-style overdrive and fuzz built around BJT transistor clipping, with no clipping diodes.
Inspired by iconic fuzz pedals like the Fuzz Face and early Tone Benders, we’ve captured their essence while enhancing playability across the entire control range through targeted circuit optimization.
Fully original in its design, The Knife OD delivers musical, asymmetrical low/mid-gain overdrive and thick vintage fuzz, with expanded functionality and precise control.
Versatility and High Headroom
The Knife OD offers tremendous headroom, capable of pushing your amp even at low gain with a clean boost.
At medium gain, it produces rich saturation and low-gain vintage overdrive.
At higher settings, it yields a musical, fuzzy overdrive with asymmetrical clipping.
At maximum gain, it unleashes a thick, powerful fuzz with long sustain and strong compression.
Regardless of the gain setting, The Knife OD responds beautifully to your guitar’s volume knob, delivering clear, articulate tones when rolled back — just like a classic Fuzz Face.
Gain Section
The Attack knob controls the pre-clipping gain by adjusting the first transistor’s amplification, offering precise control over saturation and clipping.
This pedal offers a wide tonal palette — from clean and warm tones to balanced vintage overdrive with torn-speaker textures, all the way to powerful fuzz — providing far greater versatility than passive or traditional vintage-style circuits.
The ATT switch cuts the gain in half, letting you explore both low- and high-gain fuzz tones, while giving you flexibility to boost or soften your overdrive or fuzz response as desired.
Tonal Shape Control
The Knife OD features a Shape knob that allows you to sculpt the frequency response before the clipping stage with precision.
Turned fully to the left, the sound becomes sharper and brighter, emphasizing upper mids and reducing lows. Turned fully to the right, the tone becomes rounder and slightly more saturated, with boosted lows and low-mids — resulting in a stronger signal and more clipping in the final stage.
