Potentiomètre de tonalité

Tone potentiometers act like a low-pass filter.
In other words, passively, i.e. without power supply, they attenuate part of the high frequencies.
When the potentiometer is open, the pickup signal passes completely through.
Turning the potentiometer removes the high end of the frequency spectrum, gradually lowering the cutoff frequency.
Tone potentiometers can be ordered:
- with a preamp without an active-passive switch: this is a rarely encountered configuration, as it duplicates the treble potentiometer, without functioning in the same way.
- with a preamp equipped with an active-passive switch: the tone is pre-wired to operate in passive mode. On request and at no extra cost, it can also be wired for active and passive operation.
- without preamp and with other items (volume(s), balance, switch, jack...) for a "ready to integrate" passive system. Wiring will be at no extra cost, as wiring time is already built into the items.
If the tone potentiometer is wired after the volume potentiometer, the volume position will affect tone operation.
For this reason, it is recommended to set:
- the tone before the volume
- one tone per microphone
If, however, you prefer to have a general tone, with 2 microphones, a solution I suggest is to use a potentiometer with a single shaft acting on 2 resistor tracks.
As with the single tones, these potentiometers are available with or without a switch.
