After three decades dedicated to Marshall amps, Guns N' Roses guitar legend Slash has chosen to make the leap to Magnatone amplifiers.
And that's not all, it seems the brand already has a signature amp in the works with the guitarist, indeed Slash claims he's working with Magnatone on a 100-watt version of his popular M-80 tube amp.
Slash's signature M-80 is expected to be co-developed with Magnatone engineer and "tube amp guru" Obeid Khan, and will come with a matching 4×12 cabinet, according to the brand's announcement.(via Guitar World).
Magnatone president and CEO Ted Kornblum says of the new partnership, "We're thrilled to welcome Slash to Magnatone. "Rod Washburn, general manager, also adds, "We couldn't be more excited that Slash has adopted our quality engineering and commitment to excellence as the platform for designing his next generation of Signature amplifiers."
"I used a Magnatone 50-watt M-80 in the studio earlier this year and was blown away by the sound," Slash adds. "Since then, I've been working with Magnatone on a 100-watt version of the M-80 and I really love what they've created. It's great."
Slash joins a long list of artists such as Billy Gibbons, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa and others who have played through Magnatone amplifiers during their careers.
Certainly the beginning of a new era for alternative brands.
